I dream of Nigeria with purposeful and visionary leaders, who have great vision. A country with selfless, servant and sacrificial leaders. Leaders who can think right, act right and make positive impacts from day one without selfish interests.
I dream of a country that will be free of corruption and bribery of every form. A place where all things will work. A country where there will be a constant power supply, a place that will be secured and devoid of constant kidnapping. A place where good healthcare will be accessible to common people. A place where aspiring young people can get quality and standard education, where talents and potential will be encouraged to develop A place where graduates can get jobs and do better things with their lives. A place where the physically challenged and vulnerable people can get the maximum care, support and protection from the government and charities.
The Nigerian government has spent millions of naira if not billions on rebranding Nigeria. But is it rebranding that we truly we need? I think we need more than rebranding; we need drastic and revolutionary change. One million or one billion rebranding programmes will fail us. We need drastic and urgent changes to get different and better results because when a person keeps doing the same thing, he/she will keep getting the same results. Newton first of motion states that ‘a body will remain in motion or a state of rest unless an external force or body acts on it.’ Except an external and stronger force of change occur in the country, in form of excellent leadership, getting better results will be close to impossible.
I dream of a Nigeria that will be free of tribalism and ethnicity where people will leave together in peace and strive towards the development of unity and progress of the country. A country that will be free from ethno-religious crises and clashes. A place where people can move freely and settle down within the country.
I see a Nigeria, where there is there is total rule of law, when the president and the senators, governors will be subjected to the same law with the common man on the street. A country where human right abuse of every form will be discarded, A country where the uniformed men: police, army, navy, air force won’t be able to molest or humiliate innocent/harmless civilians without facing the wrath of law.
I am yet to read in the newspaper or hear on the air that an America president or a British prime minister or a French president or any of their legislators deliberately travel abroad for medical treatment. It is only in Nigeria, and other African countries that the presidents, senators, ministers, governors, commissioners and local government chairmen regularly travel abroad for medical treatment, just because they have made mess of the nation’s healthcare system. I see a Nigerian, where the president, ministers, governors will be proud to get medical treatment in the country.
I dream of Nigeria, where the citizens can get their passion for patriotism and become proud of their country whether they at home or away, and be proud to wave her flag.
I dream of a better Nigeria, where people from all over the world will come to study, visit or live in and do business. A country where my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will be proud to call their home. I dream of a better Nigeria where dreams can be fulfilled and success can be achieved. I dream of a successful Nigeria. What about you?
