Welcome to another exciting day with secure health, I hope you are having a great week, I won’t be beating around the bush today, we just dive right into it. In the last post we saw the different categories of vitamins we have, so today we will be discussing some “FAT-SOLUBLE VITAMINS” which are Vitamins A and D.
Let’s begin;
Vitamin A
This vitamin is can be found in Dark-coloured fruits, Dark leafy vegetables, egg yolk, fortified milk and dairy products (cheese, yoghurt, butter, and cream), Liver, beef, and fish.
Benefits;
It helps form and maintains healthy teeth, bones, soft tissue, mucous membranes, and skin
- Vitamin A protects your eyes from Night Blindness and Age-Related Decline
- It may lower your risk of Certain Cancers
- It supports a Healthy Immune System
- Vitamin A helps reduce the Risk of Acne
- It supports Bone Health
- Vitamin A Promotes Healthy Growth and Reproduction
Vitamin D
This vitamin can be found in Fish (fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring, and orange roughly), Fish liver oils (cod liver oil), Fortified cereals, fortified milk and dairy products (cheese, yoghurt, butter, and cream)
Benefits;
This is also the “sunshine vitamin,” since the body makes it after being in the sun. Ten to 15 minutes of sunshine 3 times a week is enough to produce the body’s requirement of vitamin D for most people at most latitudes. People who do not live in sunny places may not make enough vitamin D. It is very hard to get enough vitamin D from food sources alone. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium. You need calcium for the normal development and maintenance of healthy teeth and bones. It also helps maintain proper blood levels of calcium and phosphorus.
- It helps fights disease
- Vitamin D reduces depression
- Vitamin D boosts weight loss
This is where we will be concluding today’s post, next week Tuesday we are going to be doing a deep dive into vitamins E and K, but always remember that we at secure health are just a click away.
